The Alchemist's Stone
Pierre-Charles LeSueur, the second son of a French aristocrat, searches for a new purpose on the Canadian frontier. Cast out by his family, the awkward young man nicknamed Beanpole is taken in by Jesuit explorer Jacques Marquette, who searches for the headwaters of the Mississippi River.
When his master is murdered, however, LeSueur must learn how to survive on the frontier alone.
As an adult, LeSueur becomes an accomplished fur trader with a secret identity and a desire for revenge against the faceless men who killed his mentor. An unlikely visitor, the comet of 1682, brings LeSueur several strange clues about a mysterious treasure on the frontier—a treasure men have killed to find. Is LeSueur willing to throw away his career and reputation to chase after the same legends that claimed the life of his mentor? Will his quest for vengeance destroy the world he has built?
The Alchemist’s Stone is an action-packed adventure on the 1680s frontier. The second book in the Alchemist Chronicles digs deeper into the Philosopher’s Stone legend and the secret societies trying to acquire it.
